Percussions - Paris conservatoire - Soloist with orchestre de Paris

Académies
First session - July 15 to July 25

Biography

Born in Toulouse, Eric Sammut begins his musical studies in this town before carrying on at the conservatoire national de musique de Lyon where he obtains a first price. The same year he becomes first percussionist of the national opera orchestra of Lyon. Since 1998, he is solo timbalier of the orchestra of Paris.
First price of the Leigh Howard Stevens Marimba international contest of New York in 1995 (ever decreed since), he toured in the United States the following year. Since, he performs regularly in France, in Europe, in Japan and the United States. Eric Sammut is also prize winner of the international contests of Luxembourg and Stuttgart (world marimba competition).
Atypical and eclectic musician, he borrows with happiness the short cuts between the various music styles: traditional, jazz, variety, contemporary... He has just recorded a compact disc devoted to the repertoire for marimba solo, and currently prepares another recording which will show his eclectic tastes and his unbounded talent.
Eric Sammut is, in addition, professor of marimba to the conservatoire supérieur de musique de Paris and the conservatoire national de région de Toulouse.
